Frequently Asked Questions
What materials do you recycle?
Cardboard, paper, aluminum cans, plastic bottles and most types of firm / rigid plastic containers with a recycling symbol (number). Please view this link (pdf or site page) for detailed descriptions and materials not accepted or not recyclable.
Can I drop-off my recycling at your facility?
We do not operate a public drop-off facility, but we can accept bulk materials via trailer load (baled or in gaylord boxes), or in certain containers under our Commercial Services. If your business’s material is not stored utilizing one of these methods, please contact us for additional options.
Do you provide services for businesses and organizations?
Yes! We provide the most reliable and effective recycling, shredding and waste services for any business, non-profit, office building, warehouse, apartment & condo complex, municipality or government entity.
Do you provide residential services?
We are currently developing potential residential recycling service routes and will inform those on our wait-list upon implementation. Please contact us here to request information for residential service.
Where can I drop-off my recycling for free?
Nearest our location, you may contact the Kirkwood Public Recycling Center or the Byrnes Mill Recycling Center. For a more exhaustive list, please click here.
Every place I call won’t accept plastic bags or plastic films…what should I do?
Thin plastic films and bags are recyclable but they’re very difficult to process because they regularly get twisted in the mechanical separators and can shut down the sorting machinery. While we are currently working on solutions for plastic films, the best solution right now is to visit www.plasticfilmrecycling.org to search for the nearest drop-off location.
Do you recycle styrofoam (EPS or expanded polystyrene)?
While we currently are not able to process styrofoam, we are in a development phase in order to be able to process styrofoam on a large scale. Click here to be notified when we do.
Why do you charge for recycling? Isn’t my recyclable material worth money?
There is a lot of misinformation out in the general public about recycling. While there can be intrinsic value to some recyclable materials, it takes an enormous amount of those materials to be collected, sorted, processed and stored in order to turn those materials into a salable commodity. The large overhead costs of collecting those materials and the infrastructure to complete the processing is the main reason for market-driven costs incurred in picking up recycling containers.
We have an abundance of old batteries, bulbs and lamps…can they be recycled?
Yes. We offer several solutions, sized for small, medium and large businesses alike. Check out our “specialized solutions” page for more detailed information.
Do you recycle electronics? For residential clients, or businesses?
We offer comprehensive solutions to all commercial clients for certified electronics recycling, hard drive data destruction, and IT asset management. We’ve partnered with the leading R2-Certified Electronics Recycler in St. Louis to responsibly collect, handle, process and recycle all of your firm’s needs, regardless of company size. If you’re inquiring from a residence, please see the notes on residential recycling within our FAQ’s above and below.
I have boxes full of old clothes…do you recycle textiles?
For businesses, we offer a full-fledged textile recycling program for various materials. If you’re a residential inquiry, please see the FAQ’s on this page pertaining to residential recycling.
What about appliances and lawn equipment?
We do not accept those items via drop-off, but we do provide services to businesses for removal & recycling of such items. Please utilize the Contact Us form to inquire.
I have some old paint cans, aerosol cans and other liquids…can you recycle them?
Who can I contact for residential services right now?
Please contact your local city or township to inquire if your immediate area has a contracted service provider for trash and/or recycling. If you do not have contracted residential recycling service currently, please contact us here to be added to the residential wait-list.
My company operates a facility that produces many tons of recyclable material…mostly cardboard, paper, and plastics. How can we turn that material into a revenue stream?
Easy! If you already operate a baler or compactor on-site, we can provide a no-hassle service estimate to coordinate the collection of all baled materials with a recurring purchase order. If you don’t already have a baler or compactor, we can provide one for little – sometimes zero – cost. The small footprint balers are extremely powerful and super easy to install and use. We provide free onsite training and cover all the maintenance on leased balers. Your firm can begin receiving significant revenue with our virtually ‘zero-cost-of-ownership’ baler lease program.
